Portia Lee James DeGeneres, popularly known as her pseudonym Portia de Rossi, is an iconic model from Australia actress, philanthropist, and actor. At the age of 15 she officially changed her name, adopting an Italian title "de Rossi" which was glamorous. Her name was changed to "Portia" of Shakespeare's production of The Merchant of Venice. Portia believes that it was her most adventurous act she has ever done and declared that the need to change her name was triggered by her inner conflict with her sexual identity.
